Alice Jarry and Francis Ouellet present at ACFAS as part of the open session “La recherche-création, acteur de la transition socio-écologique : matières, milieux et publics.”

The event is co-organized by Hexagram, Laboratoire Symbiose and the Chaire de recherche municipale pour les villes durables. 

These research platforms explore  the potential of eco-technological approaches to mobilize academic, industrial, and municipal stakeholders around the challenges facing the Beaudet Reservoir (Victoriaville), particularly sediment accumulation and its impact on access to drinking water.

By fostering knowledge sharing and experimentation across engineering, the natural sciences, and research-creation, this cross-sector collaboration seeks to contribute to both the practical and affective dimensions of the socio-ecological transition.

The goals of a just transition require embodied, situated, and inclusive methods capable of engaging diverse publics and opening new ways of living together. In this context, research-creation serves as a space for critical dialogue, fostering the co-construction of imaginaries and socio-technical practices that can give rise to renewed forms of social and ecological organization.

The day includes case studies and demonstrations highlighting circular approaches, such as the transformation of industrial, forestry, and mining residues, while examining the impacts of urban infrastructure on surrounding environments. In the afternoon, roundtable discussions will focus on the Beaudet Reservoir collaboration and the challenges it raises, including sediment accumulation, ecological dynamics, and the conditions for coexistence among human and more-than-human actors.
