Elena Thomas is a multidisciplinary artist and designer from coastal Maine whose work explores embodiment, community, and human relationships with the natural world. Through research-based, sensory-driven practices, she investigates how design can foster deeper connection to place and collective experience. Grounded in sociology, ecology, and play, her work often invites slower attention and engagement with outdoor ecosystems.
She was a resident in Charlevoix, QC with the Musée d'art Contemporain de Baie-Saint-Paul. Elena is currently completing a Master of Design after having completed a graduate foundation semester in Industrial Design at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), as well as a BSc in Urban Studies from the University of Manchester. She is a member of the Speculative Life Research Cluster and the Biolab at the Milieux Institute and the research-creation network Hexagram.
