Leigh Kotsilidis is an interdisciplinary artist, writer, and researcher exploring the entanglements of science, art, and environmental perception in the Anthropocene. She is currently a PhD student in the Individualized Program (INDI) at Concordia University. She is a member of the Speculative Life Research Cluster (Milieux Institute), the Centre for Sensory Studies, and the international research-creation network Hexagram. She is also the founder of the grassroots community laboratory Rocket Science Room. Her current academic research investigates how climate science is constructed, communicated, and experienced across human and more-than-human scales. In it, Kotsilidis probes the limits of human-centred knowledge-building around climate change, working toward relational, more-than-human ways of knowing. This inquiry culminates in multisensory assemblages of Anthropocenic objects—field recordings and poetry among them—for a museum-lab installation on ecological responsibility. Kotsilidis holds a BA in Anthropology and Creative Writing from York University and an MFA in Studio Arts: Intermedia from Concordia. She has published two books of poetry, Hypotheticals and Some of Us May Live, with Coach House Books, and her artwork has been presented in Montreal, Toronto, San Francisco, Basel, and Paris. She lives and works in Tiohtiá:ke/Montreal.
