Presentation of the report “Quel avenir pour l’autoroute Métropolitaine et les communautés riveraines?“

December 10,  2024

As part of the research project Prospective co-design for democratic and inclusive planning in sustainable mobility, ALLIIUM’s team will present the report “Quel avenir pour l’autoroute Métropolitaine et les communautés riveraines?”.
A major overhaul of the elevated sections of the Autoroute Métropolitaine (A-40) is in the offing. Although major transformation scenarios have been ruled out by the government and are difficult to envisage in the short term, this project should be seen as an opportunity to rethink this infrastructure, its use, and urban planning, with a view to transforming them by the end of the infrastructure's life, around 2050.

The Alliance pour l'innovation dans les infrastructures de mobilité (ALLIIUM) has designed and conducted a participatory prospective research process to take advantage of the refurbishment project to embody the transition to sustainable mobility and development that is struggling to materialize in Quebec.

These infrastructures, symbols of another era, deserve an innovative vision of social, environmental, and economic development, including best practices in sustainable mobility, nuisance mitigation, social responsibility, nature-based solutions, and green technologies.
