[re|capture presented at EISODE in May 2024

May 1 to May 30, 2024

Alice Jarry, Brice Ammar-Khodja, Jacqueline Beaumont, Jean-Michael Celerier, Matthew Halpenny, Asa Perlman and Philippe Vandal present [re]capture at EISODE. Curator: Ariane Plante
From May 1 until May 30, 2024, the Concordia Research Chair in Critical Practices in Materials and Materiality will exhibit the installation [re]capture at EISODE Gallery (Montreal).

Based on the concept of filtration, [re]capture is an installation that explores the materialization of air pollution flows in Montreal. Nomadic objects placed in urban spaces capture levels of fine particles, carbon dioxide and volatile organic compounds, as well as images of their immediate surroundings. This information is organized in a database and retransmitted to the exhibition space, informing the behavior of wind and light flows circulating through a filtration system made up of biomaterials and plants known for their filtering properties.

EISODE offers a context suited to the experience of installations incorporating elements of generative art. These works are linked to technologies  based on algorithmic writing systems that unfold over time. [re]capture is part of the ongoing research project
